Relationships x Reputation/Respect = Revenue & Results

  1. If you have spent any amount of time with me talking about business and life, then you’ve probably heard me mention my "R Rules".
*Not everyone is focused on revenue: parents, those in government, the military, etc...are focused on results.

  1. Young people care about the latter (Revenue & Results). Older people care more about the former (Relationships & Reputation).

  2. This applies to developing team members, sales, marketing, recruiting, fundraising, investing, etc...

  3. People often focus on the right hand side but not on the left hand side. Enduring revenue & results derive from relationships and reputation. Reputation is what people know about someone or a company but character of course is the essence.

  4. In bad times people focus on the latter when in fact they should be focused on the former. It’s in tough times that relationships and reputation are forged. Those relationships and reputation then result in revenue & results in good times.

  5. All of this, like all advice, is easier said than done.
